updates, pt. 2 (and also plainview)

hi again!

first off, you might notice that something looks a lil' different! this is because i've switched back to html files for these posts! this is specifically so i could include images and the like, which you'll see... right down there, on this very post!

of course, all this formatting is purely temporary. this is all just placeholder until i figure out what i'm gonna do with the musings index page, so i guess none of it really matters. oh well!

i've also done some minor updates to the aboutme page since last time. i added some fake polaroids for "honorable mentions" – stories that i really like and that resonated with me... but aren't homestuck or 17776. sorry :(. these include taz and oneshot so far, with an empty space currently taken up by hollow knight. by the way, if you haven't figured it out yet, you can click on both the posters and polaroids to see a few paragraphs about each of them!

speaking of that aboutme page, i noticed that my html/css wasn't actually scaling up some of the images (specifically the posters), so i fixed all that! now everything has consistent pixel size! (except those pride pins. i'll get to them!)

the problem is that now i'm unsure if i actually like this better... you can see both versions right here (zoom in!):

A screenshot of the aboutme page.A screenshot of the aboutme page.

the inconsistent version is on the left, consistent on the right. for now, im keeping the second version, but if you like the old version – feel free to drop a comment! i can't respond to any rn because this site is just barely less than a week old, but i'll see them!

(EDIT: changed it back!! i am one indecisive bitch)

but all this has just been me procrastinating on other parts of the website. woops! i'll get to them!!! eventually!!!! i swear!!!!!!!!!

...eventually.

wait no! don't go yet!

i'll admit, i've mostly been using these "musings" as a way to keep track of site updates. but i'm running a blog here! i can't run a blog on boring old "site updates"! so now it's time for THAT DEEP PERSONAL BIZ.

by which i mean im going to launch into talking about more cool stories. let's talk about plainview!

The flag of the fictional town of Plainview, Manesy.

i gotta say. plainview is probably my favorite actively updating story right now. it's an alternate-history story about the spotless town of plainview, manesy, and a socially anxious detective investigating within. it's got such a unique energy and flair and it charmed me nigh-instantly. oh and also it's really fucking funny.

On the scaffolding around the stage is a banner that reads “CHILD DEATH AVOIDED” in a way-too-festive font.

GREY MATTER: HELL-O~ PLAINVIEW! AND HELLO ALL YOU LISTENING AT HOME! THIS IS YOUR HOST, GREY MATTER, COMING TO YOU LIVE FROM PLAINVIEW SQUARE, CELEBRATING THE TOWN’S FIRST - AND HOPEFULLY ONLY - CEREBELLE RAGSDILL DIDN’T DIE TODAY FESTIVAL!

GREY MATTER: Ralph, is there anything more you’d like to add?

(What do you say next?)

Anonymous asked:

Well, i felt really cheesed to meet you all.

RALPH DEVLIN: I sure did feel cheesed to meet you all today.

Grey Matter puts aside the mic so that no one can hear her talking to you. Without a mic, she says-

GREY MATTER: Can you PLEASE say something else?

(What do you say?)

Anonymous asked:

It feels so gouda know a child didn’t die today

She raises the microphone to you, hoping you say something of substance. Almost pleading with you.

RALPH DEVLIN: It feels so gouda know a child didn’t die today.

The second the words are out of your mouth, Grey tugs the microphone away.

GREY MATTER: ANDDD THAT’S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE FOR THAT, FOLKS! GIVE IT UP AGAIN FOR RALPH DEVLIN, THE HERO PLAINVIEW’S GOT IN THIS VERY MOMENT IN TIME!

Well, there goes being a normal human being.

i highly recommend checking it out if you've got the time!
